9 Going On Teen spot for Canon Vixia

Working with Tangerine Films and Dentsu Aegis Network, Canon rolled out this spot for their Canon Vixia camera. 9 Going On Teen is a :30 trailer style spot about a little girl on her tenth birthday. The camera captures a perfect princess birthday party set up, followed by the sort of piñata carnage only little girls can muster. The entire spot is shot on the new camera.
Process
The team asked Flavorlab Score, Glenn Schloss & Erik Blicker, to compose original score for the spot. Flavorlab Sound provided sound effects and mix for the ad. The music weaves in and out of fairy fantasy and light horror. The score features twinkling piano and strings before descending into a sparse, heartbeat kick drum backed by joyous screaming. Sound effects for the spot can be found on our Producer’s Toolbox catalogue and highlight the mid-ad shift. Head of audio post, Brian Quill, mixed the camera audio with professional voice over.
Result
A delightful home movie style trailer. The spot showcases the cameras clarity, solidifying its memory making ability “this year and every year until college.”
