Creating Immersive Sound for Museum Of Sex.

Sound as Skin:
Flavorlab Gives Voice
to The Life Force

An immersive audio experience built for intimacy, vulnerability, and the body in tension — now open at the Museum of Sex, New York

NEW YORK, NY  —  APRIL 2026

Flavorlab, the New York-based sound design and audio production studio, proudly announces the completion of its original audio experience for The Life Force: Portraits from the Amparo & Manuel Foundation, now on view at the Museum of Sex through October 18, 2026.

The challenge was precise: translate desire, identity, and vulnerability into sound — without losing depth. To meet that challenge, working alongside the Museum of Sex and the Fundación Amparo & Manuel (AMMA), Flavorlab built an audio world as intimate as what hangs on the walls — one that holds the same tension between Eros and Thanatos that defines the exhibition itself.

Spanning voice casting, recording, and immersive sound design, Flavorlab’s contribution moves through the exhibition like a second nervous system. Each sonic layer was designed to amplify what paint, sculpture, and drawing alone can only suggest —namely, the interior conditions made visible in the work of Tracey Emin, Lisa Yuskavage, Sarah Lucas, and more than 30 artists from across the globe.

For Flavorlab, The Life Force represents a natural extension of the studio’s core belief that sound is not decoration — it is architecture. As a result, the audio experience was built from the ground up to honor the exhibition’s central premise: that nudity is vulnerability made visible, that intimacy is a form of resistance, and that in fragility, the impulse to feel alive becomes incredibly powerful.
