Flavorlab Mixes and Casts Voice for Ralph Lauren’s “American Icons”

NEW YORK — Flavorlab recently handled the mix and voice casting for Ralph Lauren’s “American Icons” spot, bringing the same restraint-first approach that defines the studio’s work on premium brand campaigns.

The Mix: Letting the Imagery Lead

Senior Mixer and Flavorlab Partner Brian Quill mixed the spot. Meanwhile, Flavorlab’s voice casting team ran the search for the narration, working closely with the client to land a read that matched the film’s tone.

“A piece like this lives or dies on restraint,” said Quill. “The imagery is already doing a lot of work, so the mix has to sit underneath it and let the voice carry. We spent most of our time on balance, where the music breathes, where it steps back, how the narration sits in the middle of it. The goal was for none of it to call attention to itself.”

Why In-House Voice Casting Matters

On the casting side, Quill pointed to the advantage of running both disciplines under one roof. “Voice casting and mixing entirely under Flavorlab means we can hear a read in context almost immediately,” he explained. “You’re not guessing whether a voice will work against the track, you drop it in and know.”

That tight feedback loop between casting and mixing is a hallmark of how Flavorlab approaches branded work: fewer handoffs, faster iteration, and a final mix built around the read rather than fitted to it after the fact.
