FLAVORLAB SOUND PROVIDED MIX FOR VISIT THE USA’S #HEARTHEMUSIC CAMPAIGN
Summer is coming and that means it’s time for a vacation! Luckily, there are so many incredible places to see right here in the United States. Flavorlab Sound was honored to contribute sound design & mix to Visit The USA‘s #HearTheMusic campaign. The campaign follows a band from each featured city. The bands show the viewer around their hometown – the food, the drink, the culture – and sing a rendition of The Romantics’ “What I Like About You” or K.C. & The Sunshine Band’s “Boogie Shoes”. The campaign consists of 8 shorts docs of each American city, two full length episodes, one for What I Like About You and another for Boogie Shoes, and 8 music videos of each band.

Part of enhancing the sounds of each city required the team add layers to the space. In Owensboro, a layer of crickets, in Detroit, the traffic on the street, in Miami, the waves washing up on the shore. The team worked to honor the authentic environment of each place. The videos also showcase the process each band took to represent the musical tradition of their city in each song. The artists croon along to the classic recordings. Soon, the practice sessions transition into their own studio recordings.
